Kick off the weekend with the Brown Alumni Association’s Multicultural Alumni Committee (MAC) to celebrate the diversity of Brown's alumni community (Asian/Asian American Alumni Alliance, Brown University Latino Alumni Council, Inman Page Black Alumni Council, and Brown Transgendered, Bisexual, Gay and Lesbian Alumni). 9:00 pm–1:00 am Campus Dance.
One of Brown’s best-loved Reunion and Commencement traditions, the Campus Dance brings more than 11,000 people to campus to dance the night away under hundreds of paper lanterns. The College Green is transformed into an outdoor ballroom with a giant dance floor for swinging to the sounds of the Duke Belaire Orchestra. Lincoln Field is set for the young at heart with two of Brown’s student bands. Tables for the 15th through 70th Reunion classes are located on the College Green in front of Faunce House. The 10th Reunion is located around the flagpole on the College Green, while the 5th Reunion will have tables reserved on Lincoln Field. Tickets not purchased in advance will go on sale beginning at 8:30 pm. There are six beverage areas throughout the Dance; beverage tokens can be purchased in the Blue Room, Faunce House, or behind Wilson Hall on upper Lincoln Field. Decades after A Nation at Risk, our country struggles with continuing gaps in educational opportunity and achievement. President Obama recently challenged the nation to double its college completion rate by 2025. Brown alums play leadership roles in defining innovative approaches and taking action on this critical issue. Join a lively discussion of the issues and the alums’ work. All members of the Brown community are welcome to join the Delt Foundation in remembrance of the Brown alumni lost in the 9/11 attacks: Donald Greene ’71, Chuck Margiotta ’79, Dave Laychak ’83, Joanne Weil ’84, Ray Rocha ’95, and Paul Sloan ’97. We will also remember Dimitri Gavriel ’97, who was killed in action in Fallujah, Iraq.

Alumni Field Day.
Reunion classes from the 5th through the 30th and Warren Alpert Medical School alumni will enjoy catching up with friends under their class/school tents at what promises to be the best Field Day ever, with a new menu and new activities. All activities are complimentary; for lunch, bring your own or buy tickets for a hometown Rhode Island picnic. A cash bar will also be available. Pre-registration is recommended; a limited number of individual-only picnic tickets will be available for purchase at the Field Day gate at an additional price. Field Day is held rain or shine. All are invited to join internationally-known specialists from the class of 1959 as they reflect on their life’s work in the fields of art, science, social studies, and sports. Panelists will include a co-author of the pioneering Our Bodies, Ourselves, a distinguished gynecologic oncologist, a professional boxing judge, and a museum curator and lecturer on Native American studies. Participation and discussion are encouraged.

Marking the first ceremonial moment of Brown’s Commencement, the service includes a distinguished guest speaker; music, greetings, and thanksgivings in several languages; and traditions drawn from the diversity of Brown’s family. The traditional walk through the Van Wickle Gates, one of Brown’s oldest and greatest traditions, brings together the entire Brown community. Don’t miss the opportunity to march with your classmates! Each class has a special place in the Procession, which travels from University Hall through the Van Wickle Gates and down College Hill. Generally, the most recent classes form on George Street while earlier classes will form on the College Green. Look for your reunion class signs and your reunion student staff member for guidance. (The procession steps off at 9:45 am.)

Available for 5th through 45th Reunion classes. After you return up the Hill, grab lunch as Reunion Weekend comes to an end. The extended hours at your class headquarters will allow you to enjoy the company of your classmates or, if weather permits, have an impromptu picnic on campus. Pre-registration recommended. A limited number of lunches will be available for purchase on-site. [$]
